I use mine with my desktop all the time! I put the BN on my lap! PDI has made some excellent hot keys for WindowEyes and I have added a couple of my own. I love being able to press the tab or shift tab while reading so I don't have to jump to the PC keyboard. I never cease to marvel how the QT keyboard can become a braille style keyboard, so I have the best of both worlds, (grin).

At the moment, I find : the braillenote nearly unusable with the computer as a braille display. Not : only can I not use it with my laptop (the unit doesn't have a serial port : and, for some reason, hates any USB to serial converter I try to plug into : it), but I can't use it at all efficiently with my desktop. The BN I have : has a QT keyboard. I can neither put my desktop's keyboard on top of it, for : fear of pressing its keys, nor move my hands back and forth from the display : to the keyboard, as this would decrease my speed while typing to a snail's : pace, and editing is just as difficult. The only way which is close to : satisfactory to use the thing is on a table with two levels, and even that : isn't totally satisfactory, as moving from the board to the display is a : pain, though a reduced one. : With the Pacmate's detachable braille display, one can easily place : the keyboard on it and any other support and move back and forth quickly. : Anyone want a BN QT 32 with the latest updates, lightly used? : Aman : : -----Original Message----- : From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] : [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Josh Kennedy : Sent: May 25, 2004 12:00 AM : To: Braillenote List : Subject: Re: [Braillenote] detachable braille display : : yeah, I guess you're all right.
