Hi Laura, I do resets all the time with the files open and my data is never lost. Yes backing up would be a good idea if I had money to purchase flash cards or a disk drive for the BN. I am not sure I can buy flash cards on Guam so buying from the States would mean extra shipping expenses. I think I knew I was at the bottom of the document and I was going to just insert something and I knew why the display was blank. However whenthe BN wouldn't show what I wanted it to on the display the spell checker menu I panicked. I just find it odd how the BN deletes some data and doesn't touch other data. Like if it is going to delete data in files when they are open when a reset is performed fine do this for all files. I am not mad at you I still don't understand how this happened when I do resets all the time with files open this file even and nothing has ever happened. Or if it has it hasn't been important enough for me to realize the mistake. I know I'm screwed and it's my own fault! . It just amazes me how when I post about something like this other people write with similar issues and PDI staff doesn't respond or if they have I have not seen ;the message. I just hope spending the money on the 6.1 upgrade is worth it to make the BN more stable. I'm going to call tech support tonight before sending the unit in for repair. I'm even more suspicious of the BN having issues now that one of the dots on the Braille display is not functioning. I want to send the BN in before it destroys everything. Slowly I'm learning to live without the BN when it isn't here. It's a skill I must learn in order to own a Braillenote or any technology survival skills for when it isn't here. Thanks for the help. Lisa
