I think the best answer to the question "Why me?" would best be answered by the 
phrase "stuff happens."  My personal data loss occurred with my CompactFlash 
card, which happened to be inserted in the side slot using a PCMCIA adapter.  I 
don't know if it was the card, the side slot, the operating system, or a 
combination of all three, so I am not prepared to blame my data loss on 
anything in particular, including leaving the card in the unit.  Most of the 
time I only take out the card when doing a reset and things have been fine ever 
since I got a new Sandisk card a couple of months ago.
My fiance, on the other hand, had his on-board flash disk, the 16mb version, 
spontaneously reformat on three separate ocasions.

If the flash disk, di you have the 48 mb disk or the 16 mb one and if the
