Jonathan,

I'm looking for as many suggestions as possible. What do you think of my Email
dilemma? Let me know if I need to repost the message.

Dick, there are three problems that we are aware of relating to 6.1. So I
think it is a gross exaggeration to talk about all the problems. I'm
certainly prepared to front up on this list and state clearly where there
are issues as I did yesterday, however I'm not prepared to let
exaggerations go unchallenged because negativity is contagious. There was
an issue relating to the database conversion process from the old format to
the new one with respect to dial-up customers, for which we documented a
work-around within a very short time and will be fixed in 6.11. And there
are issues with the e-mail. Finally, a particular hard disk drive that was
never that widely sold does not have a Windows CE 4.2 driver at this time
and we are working on that.

The issue with the Superdisk is well documented in the release notes, and
the manufacturer has now come up with a driver for us. So this was not a
defect, but a decision we made. There are far many more people who don't
use Superdisk drives than do, so we made the call to clearly document it
and release 6.1 pending the availability of a new driver from the
manufacturer.

KeySoft 6.1 upgrades the entire operating system and adds some major
improvements in performance and functionality. We'll do all we can to fix
the small number of issues there are, but I can assure you, beta testers
did a fine job in helping us put together a major technically ambitious
project. To have been able to construct a completely accessible operating
system upgrade is something very new.

Hello, Isaac,
I am probably in the vast minority here, but I agree with you, especially
as
regards the charge date and shipping date. Think of all the interest
someone is making off that money for almost 6 months, and think of all the
interest and use of that money you have lost. From what I have read on
this
list, the forced purchase of the intermediate software is unfair. Also,
from reading all the problems people are having with 6.1, it is beginning
to
look as if we all are beta testers for a hastily cobbled together system.
I
hope I am wrong here. I was wrong when I offered to convert audio tapes to

Braille-readable text because suddenly everyone found the instructions in
text somewhere in their instruction CDs. Perhaps I will be wrong again
when
users suddenly discover that they were just not reading the instructions
correctly.

In hopes of a better tomorrow

Dick Myers

Hello floks,
I am appalled at these things:
1. having one's credit card charged the day the order for 6.1 was placed
although the order didn't come in until six months later.
2. Not being told that 6.1 lacked the ability to allow one to use their
superdisk drive.
3. the fact that 6.1 lacks bluetooth support.
4. that PDI chose not to inform people of these things when and where they
occurred.
5. the lack of communications between PDI and it's customers.
I would've contested the charge to my credit card immediately! You don't
charge me until you ship the goods, otherwise I contest!
I certainly don't understand these issues. Now I know why people are
anxious about their upgrades arriving! they've been charged!
I believe the list deserves explanations of these tactics.
thank you.
Isaac
