Is it the safety valve or the vacuum valve, ie: the big valve or the little valve? The big safety valve is quite a pain to replace, almost impossible to get off. They have an improved one, but I could never get the old one off to put it on. The small vacuum valve is quite simple to remove and can be easily cleaned. I would still recommend that the next time you order espresso stuff you order a new vacuum valve as well. It's nice to have a spare or two.
