When I was doing locum tenens (sort of a "Kelly Girl"
doctor, i.e. via an agency) I did get overtime for
hours over 40 (agency) or 50 (myself)/week.  As a
staff member of a clinic, however, there would be no
overtime - and I don't think so for a hospital either.
Except for those who work part-time (and their "25"
usually creeps up to 30-35 hours), most docs put in at
least 55-65 hours/week, and I have 'gonzo'
subspecialist friends who do 80+ regularly.
