Let me add my two cents. For me creativity is a start stop thing. I work on a paper or a peer review etc. I wokr for a while (one or two hours) but then I get stuck. At some point over the next day or two I will know the solution to my problem. With long projects this stop and start stuff reaches a critical mass and then I can plow through till the end no matter how many hours it takes.
