And unless you're less than an 'A' cup, just try to
trot on horseback without a good athletic/sports bra! 
Or run, mountain bike, play tennis (or even ping-pong,
for goodness' sake!) etc. - it's _very_ uncomfortable
to be without support and do more than walk.

Whatever William Ware Theiss (IIRC) thought when he
was designing some of those original Trek women's
wear...  ;)
