Which makes me wonder.. which is *your* favorite SciFi/Fantasy movie soundtrack?
If you're looking for a classical soundtrack, right now, Howard Shore's score for _Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers_ is my favorite (if you leave off Gollum's song). The music is dark, broody, powerful, very cleverly orchestrated, and will probably get played a lot by professional orchestras once a suite is released (ala "Suite from _Altered States_" by Corigliano, although LotR:TT is much more accessible).

For a soundtrack more rock/pop oriented, you might want to try the new _Daredevil_ soundtrack. I have only heard a few songs, but what I've heard I've liked. There is one track that is especially good; "My Immortal" by Evanescence.

If you're looking for a metal/techno soundtrack, there is probably none better than _Blade 2_.

And here's a controversial one for my final recommendation. Did you ever watch the short-lived Babylon 5 spinoff, Crusade? Most people either loved Evan Chen's music for it, or hated it. There's not a lot of middle ground on this one. Chen's music is a combination of electronic, jazz, modern classical, and Chinese folk music. I find it fresh and enchanting; lots of folks think it's clangy and annoying. Either way, it's definitely a change of pace from any other soundtrack you're likely to find. The soundtrack includes music from throughout the 13-episode run of the series. Amazon has some 30 second samples, but I don't think they really do justice to the pieces represented.

No matter what soundtrack(s) you choose, either from my recommendations or anyone else's, enjoy!
