The people who have been whining about the size of the new books for the
past six years?

with
> 5) of Path of Daggers. The type set is slightly larger (39 vs. 37
lines

Whip out a copy of Lord of Chaos.
48 Lines per page. ~ 77 characters per line. 716 pages.

48 * 77 * 716 = 2646336

Whip out a copy of Crossroads of Twilight.
38 Lines per page. ~ 64 characters per line. 700 Pages.

38 * 64 * 700 = 1702400

Whip out a copy of Path of Daggers.
39 Lines per page. ~ 64 characters per line. 604 Pages.

39 * 64 * 604 = 1507584

If you combine POD + WH you get a book about the same size (a little
larger) than previous books and you get about the same amount of action
etc. The average number of chapters per book up intill COS ~55, after
COS is ~30, which matches the ratios seen above.
