Possibly. Not sure, though.

I've noticed. :)

The thing is, things were reasonable and bipartisan when Bush was
governor. After he left, and the Republicans gained more
representation, there's been a lot of ridiculous stuff that hasn't been
done in a bipartisan spirit. It's like he took too many of the
reasonable people, or left too many of the unreasonable people too close
to too much power.

I'm still voting in the Republican primary on Tuesday:

1) My congressional rep, John Carter, has had his district redrawn, and
has a couple of challengers. While I don't agree with him on
everything, I think he'll do a better job of representing *me* than
someone from, say, Belton will. I've met the guy a couple of times; I
haven't met the candidate from in or near Belton.

2) The sheriff race. You want to talk about things being embarassing,
look at what's happened to the Williamson County sheriff since sometime
in December. Or take my word for it. Anyway, the race for the
Republican candidate for sheriff, and so in effect the whole race for
sheriff, is not the sort of thing I'd hold up as a model for how to
conduct county politics. But part of that is the fault of the most
recent sheriff, and I'm voting against him, and the most qualified
candidate has the same last name and a very similar first name (James
vs. Jim, Jim being the current sheriff, James being, IMO, more
qualified).

I'm almost afraid to research the rest of my ballot. If I don't do
research, though, I will vote on those two offices and only those two
offices.

        Julia
