While I don't know how well Porter knows Clinton, if I
had to guess I know him better than Clinton does. 
I've known him for five years now, including taking a
class from him, but I got to know him well outside of
class after that.  You'd have to know Roger to get
this, but I honestly don't think that he's ever sworn
in his entire life.  You just can't _imagine_ him
saying "cut the crap" to anyone.  The very idea is
absurd - I mean, really, really absurd.  Porter's an
amazing guy.  Rhodes Scholar (his son is also a Rhodes
Scholar, btw), White House Fellow, the only person
_ever_ to be chief domestic policy and economic policy
advisor to the President.  But he's also the
quintessential gentleman - a devout Mormon also, btw,
but literally a model of flawless courtesy and
decorum.  There's just no chance.  Dr. Brin can froth
all he wants, but if Clinton didn't gratuitously lie
about one of his generation's most distinguished
public servants, this whole thing wouldn't have come up.
