My doorbell died due to the pushbutton outside being corroded (a couple of weeks ago the Tesco delivery driver phoned me from his mobile to say he was outside with my groceries - oops) so after some half-hearted poking and twiddling I went to B&Q to get a new one. So I got a wireless one. The bell-push has a couple of lithium batteries in it that are supposed to last for three years and there are two door chimes that work within a 100m range, so one is where the old bell was (covering the mark where I pried the old one off the wall) and the other is in the kitchen.[1]

They join the three DECT cordless phones and the 802.11 network in my can't-be-bothered-running-wires-around home.

[1] To answer the obvious question there are four DIP-switches inside each of the devices to set one of sixteen different codes in case any of the neighbours have one too.
