Ok. No I haven't held a tour tournament. I have held a student one, but
having only just graduated I haven't quite got round to a tour. But that's
besides the point.

The reason there has been a response to the mail is compounded by the fact
that it comes from (although not on behalf of, or representing) a team which
does do a lot for Ultimate. I think little name calling is silly, but at
the same time the comment was bound to get people's backs up when you
question their commitment to a sport which basically only exists because of
the time and effort EVERYONE puts in, that means not simply being TD but
attending, playing, paying the lot.

Basically we all know we have a problem with the tour because of venues and
rising costs, and the increase in team numbers in general, placing more
pressure upon "someone" to come up with the answer. Increasing the fee may
well be a part of that answer, but prior warning of quite such a jump might
have been a good idea with hindsight, do we not think?

And a student discount doesn't really seem all THAT unreasonable does it?
Hell, students are the backbone of most tournaments, basically because they
have the time and the drinking capacity to be there all the time and I think
the response was a bit harsh.

Can we not start slamming everyone that decides to join the discussion and
start taking sides, since this IS supposed to be a british ultimate
forum....not bitching.

Errrr...I think that's all my change gone from my piggy bank and some extra
from my sock drawer......
