1. Teams in the Coed Tour with non-members (ie. those introducing new
players) are not very likely to reach the slots which would make them
eligible for Worlds & Europeans, making it less of a problem.

2. What about foreign teams (more so Coed Tour) and foreign pick-ups (like
random Americans who seem to turn up quite regularly for tournaments).
Surely they can't be expected to be members, yet they will want to play
whichever tournament is available or most convenient. At the bottom end of
the Tour there should be more room for manouevre by teams short of players
(especially student teams with a fickle/financially impaired membership --
I'm talking about paying tournament fee and travel expenses, not just
membership fee). These teams will want to take anyone they can get, be they
foreign pick-up or any non-regular UK player.

Could there be some way of paying some fee on top of the tournament fee to
play in member-only tournaments, specifically for those non-contending teams
who want to get the experience nonetheless ?

Subject: New Association and the coed tour

The proposal for the new association did not make it clear whether
non-members would be able to play in the coed tour. It seems to me that
a requirement of membership for participation in the coed tour would be
problematic, for two reasons. First, one of the stated aims of the coed
tour is to introduce new players, especially women, to ultimate; second,
if the coed tour becomes members-only there are very few tournaments left
on the calendar (and fewer affordable ones!) in which non-members would
have the opportunity to play. On the other hand, the coed tour (or
nationals at any rate) are used to select teams for major tournaments such
as worlds or Europeans, and from that perspective it seems like all
members should belong to the players association. Any comments?
