This can definately end in a discrepancy. There are teams who will have entered with only 4 of one gender. If one of that gender gets injured then they may have to forfeit games/play with six depending on the decision of the opposition. However, a team who has waited until now to enter, and has 9 unrostered players and hence a full squad can play all weekend with no thought of injuries. I appreciate that this is mixed nationals but surely this is not a suitable solution to teams that are struggling. Teams know not to take the piss i.e no team is going to ask the entire chevy contingency who have managed to make it back to play for them, so if a team who has already enterered only has 4 of one gender, then surely there's no harm in letting them pick up one or two players to make it a more competitive tourney, with teams winning on sunday because they're the better team, not because they have more legs as they waited until now to send their cheque off...
