I must admit my take is very simple on this. If you want to see a different cross section then STAND FOR ELECTION or persuade someone who is of that cross section to stand! Oh, by the way the uni coordinator chappie sits on the board anyway, although I can't remember if he has the right to vote... not as relevant as it might be as things are run on a consensus basis generally.
