I just wondered why shirts have to be numbered? Players don't accumulate
fouls - like in Basketball for instance - and as far as I know the UKUA
doesn't collect stats during the games (though it would be nice -
perhaps for the finals only?) I guess they are used for rostering
purposes...but then I have never had to give a squad number when I enter
a tournament?
I have no issue with numbers at all, just wondered what they would be
used for in the UK Tour.

I hate to jump in on a kit discussion these days
My thinking on numbers was that it was probably for ease of distinguishing
players by the opposition.
E.g. they are in a zone D, and we turn over - someone has to shout 'you've
got 18, I've got 7.... etc.' - its easier and more polite than: 'you've got
gigantor, I'll take ugly mug ...' (as an example)
Having been on a team playing against Catch years ago, and having one of my
guys shouting 'Whos on number 22!' I also saw the usefulness of UNIQUE
numbers as well.
But if thats the reasoning, one might argue numbers should be on both the
front and back of shirts, though?

The Thundering Herd are looking quite short of players for Mixed Tour 4,
which is in Southampton on the 20th / 21st August.
Can anyone out there help us out?
Good fun and some surprisingly good ultimate at times guaranteed :-) oh,
and a free thundering herd disc for the first (positive) reply!

I've got a friend in London who plays ultimate with a group of friends
for fun and they would love to enter a mixed tournament sometime. Does
anyone know of a tournament coming up that has places (think Copa and
Glastonbury are both full? however if i'm wrong please shout) and is
open to anyone? =20

Hi Britdisc!
Sorry to spam the list with non-kit related mail, but I lost a disc at
Tour 3 and it hasn't turned up in lost property. I assume that
somebody has picked it up as a stray disc at the end of the weekend.
It is a white UWE Disco disc, battered and scratched to the point of
almost being useless, even the little disco man is starting to
disappear! It is clearly marked with my nickname (Tugs) and the name
of every team I play for, including my shirt numbers.
Despite being a bit rubbish, this disc has a lot of sentimental value-
I have faithfully taken it to every outdoor tournament I've ever
played, and would really like to see it returned. If you like, I'll
even buy a new disc to replace it! Please contact me at
[EMAIL PROTECTED] or on my mobile- 07761 079010.
Cheers!

at the risk of sounding stupid, im gonna ask a question.
these directions are clearly great for getting to the playing venue. but
how
do those of us that are staying at the halls (??) overnight find them....
are they within seeing distance form the pitches? according to the web page
they are within stumbilgin distance.....

Britdisc,
this weekend saw the European Junior Ultimate Championships in
Gothenburg, Sweden.
Great Britain entered four teams into 3 divisions, two in the Open,
one womens and one team in the inaugral under 16 event.
I'm delighted to announce that we achieved the following results:
Open 1st team - Bronze Medal
Open 2nd team - 5th place and spirit of the game winners
Womens team - Bronze medal and spirit of the game winners
Under 16 team - Gold medal, European Champions!
These results are a testament to the hard work of the coaches and
others who have put the time in to organising and aiding the GB
Juniors. Its great to see such encouraging results at this level and
we can only have high hopes for next years World Junior Championships
in Boston.
