Price.

We bid, and did not get an event in 2006.

We bid and did get an event in 2007.

Due to lack of continuity, the amazingly good deal we had went out of the window, and we were forced into commercially viable rates for a very popular large venue, which has had continued large capital investment and so has increased its prices disproportionately.

Due to a 2 year gap in events, poor filing and general incompetance we had no idea what we charged last time, although we did recall that we were almost the cheapest event that year! (Caused tears as you can imagine!) Thankyou for reminding us!

Hence, we looked at what was paid last year, £160 for the cheapest, £170 for another and £180 for two events. We bid and pitched at the market rate. We are charging market rate.

If you want to change the market rate, then spend the time to find an appropriate venue, put your budgets together (please note the high fixed costs and low variable cost issues) and bid. Please, whatever you do, don't tell me how difficult it is to find suitable venues! We know, because we have already been through it!

As for how much money we are making... Don't be so rude! Didn't your mum teach you that it is rather crass to talk of such things!

Apologies for the brevity, but some private issues, are not in my opinion, a matter for public consumption, such as my financial position, and believe it or not.... accounts do not always show the true picture!

So, even though I have, (just because its you Benji) I don't think it needs explaining.

Cheers
Adam
PS Why the F********** did you not ask all this of last years organisers!

Now, I know this is a fiery debate to get into, but here I go anyway.

I don't personally have any problem with the
actual price - hell, I tried to run a tour this
year and got quoted £9,000 for pitches (idiot in
charge at sports centre) - the only query I have
is with the difference from last year's price. I
won't ask for detailed finances, but could you
just explain quickly what it is that caused the
£30 jump? Because, without casting aspersions
myself, it might look to a cynical mind as if
it's merely taking advantage of the high price of last year's nationals.

I think there is something here that people are entitled to an explanation of.

If the pitches are more expensive this year, just
say so, and I suspect that everyone will get off your back.

Benji

PS I've only sent this from my UKU address
because my other email address isn't on BD - this
isn't meant to be any sort of official thingy,
obviously. Besides, I'm only in charge of schmindoors anyway... ;)

Extortionate!
Then get off your fat arse and do it yourself.
Organise a venue, bid for the tournament and run it for a "reasonable"
fee... say £50 per team.
Put your money where your mouth is or stop whinging!

Very old, very grouchy, very fed up with having the same discussion every
year, and very much of the opinion that people should think before they dive
in.
Fucking EXTORTIONATE eh!
