This appendix is a framework which provides teams with suggestions on how
they can operate. We are trying to promote a level of 'professionalism', if
you will, whilst recognising that it is not always necessary or desired.

Basically, we had a couple of situations where one team agreed to let the
other play on when unable to field a full compliment, and either changed
their mind when the game was going against them or tried to claim the
victory after they had lost. So the rules clearly state what the options
are, but as I said Spirit is rule number 1.

It's not that harsh... In the appendices in the new rules (2007 version)
there is a section specifically relating to mixed to be used in WFDF
Championship games:

"A7.6. Mixed Division
A7.6.1. Any person may participate in the Mixed Division.
A7.6.2. All teams must have at least five (5) Male players and five (5)
Female players available for each game, and 7 players must be on the field
for every point. If a team does not meet these requirements at any time
prior to or during a game, they shall default the current game.
A7.6.3. Prior to each pull, the team starting on offence (receiving the
pull) choose to start three (3) male players and four (4) female players, or
three (3) female players and four (4) male players. The pulling team must
match this selection. This choice should be communicated to the throwing
team prior to the forty-five (45) second warning between points. (See
Section A6.2.1)"

Also what Jamie explained has been written in the UK rules rlating to
mixed for the past few years so it shouldn't come as a shock. I think Jamie
and the mixed committee has tried their best to give every situation which
could occur options to allow the captains to choose as suits that situation
best.

Jamie - cheers for the clarification.

This seems a bit harsh, in the new wfdf rules you can field between 5 and
7
players per point. What if a team is down to 4 men (say) and one twists
his
ankle, can the other team argue that he isn't "fit" and claim
victory? Rather
than being able to rest for a few points (with 3 men playing), he'll have
to
hobble around and smile?

I know, spirit of the game and teams should have lots of subs etc, but
then
what's the point of the rule (especially the "don't agree -> game over"
bit)?
