There hasn't been a pitch water comment in a few hours. Boring. To put some minds at ease our plan is to have those giant water trailers at the Copa. Something like 1000 litres each. We'll report if this works out so others can give it a try as well. We're arranging ours with the local council.
As for water at mansfield, something which was confusing and possible has led to some of the complaints was the unexpected shape of the new containers that Hannah purchased to make up for the lack of those shapeless big water bladders traditionally used by the UKUA. It wasn't until the end of Saturday that my team realised that the sexy new blue cap topped 5L containers that seemed really popular with the players this season were actually the provided tournament water containers. After this revelation we found that actually we had consistent pitch water throughout. Up to this point however we just sat and complained like everyone else. The downside being of course that once the water issue was solved we realised we really didn't have anything else to talk about. So...if you think you had no water but do remember an oddly large amount of blue topped containers sitting pitch side, you probably did have water and didn't know it. Or...and I did see this, teams didn't realise these were the tournament containers and just thought, 'hey great a big container I can go fill up for me and my mates' and took them away with them. I suspect the water might not have been as bad as it seemed and that Hannah did put effort into trying to provide water but communication of the new container style was lacking. The real complaint is of course the lack of tannoy system on the grounds to communicate issues to the players and of course the 'over doing it' with the whole sunshine thing. Ok we get it Hannah! It's usually rains in Mansfield so thanks for the sun but please, next time not so much. As you can see it just causes problems. At Copa and I assure you that the water/sun ratio will be monitored and should it shift out of balance we will take follow measures outlined in the Nottingham City Council Blame Initiative Scheme.
