All. Firstly, apologies if this has been raised previously.
I'd like to raise my disappointment at this year's nationals format. Don't get me wrong, I've nothing against the actual schedule. Felix (I think) and co. have put together yet another slick easy-to-read well-thought-out edition and all will go smoothly I'm sure. What I'm puzzled about is why the knockout format of previous years (1 vs. 32, 2 vs 31 etc) has changed. I'm not against change but in my mind, nationals should be a special event. There should be something to differentiate it from the rest of the season. I remember being that 32nd ranked team once and we played Clapham first game. Scoring the first point really *meant* something to us even if we didn't manage any more that day. I appreciate that such a game does nothing for the vastly better side. Tough - deal with it. In a game or two's time you'll be playing better teams so why not have some fun. People talk about development and I'd argue this is a step in the other direction. I guess this is the first I've seen of it and it saddens me that we've seemingly travelled from 4-tour events + nationals to 3-tour events + nationals to 4-tour events. Whatever, see you in the mud!
