I'm sure I'm not the only one but I find it rather depressing to read Paul's
email and the tone used in it. Calling out the UKU to sort something out just
to benefit one club seems selfish. BD certainly isn't right place as the UKU
would never be able to cope with the amount of work this would most certainly
produce anytime anyone had a problem.

I for don't know many sports that allow Juniors to compete at Senior level, so
to say that events like these should take precedence over the a Junior
Development schemes(which GB Juniors is) also in my opinion a little short
sighted. As Paul said it laps with one of the Regional Qualifiers, there is no
way it would be possible to miss out all of the uni qualifiers and national
qualifiers without clashing somewhere

I have played since the age of 13 and am thankful for the BUF and now the UKU
for all the efforts they have put into GB Juniors and other GB teams. Without
these amateurs we wouldn't have the strongest ultimate scene in Europe and
ranked 5th in the world. The UK is spoilt for choice and this is down to the
amateurs.

I think Paul raises some very valid issues and I am glad that he has sent this
message out across the BD group, as I know he is not the only one to be asking
these questions.

Obviously, if you don't deal with juniors, none of this will effect you, and
you will be asking why this wasn't just sent to UKU HQ, but for those who do,
hopefully his message will open up a course of dialogue and (importantly)
transparency within the way decisions are made with Junior Ultimate.

Having an open massage sent out, means that not everyone will have to send
individual messages to UKU and at least those concerned know the messages has
been asked. An open response would also mean the UKU doesn't have to
individually reply to anyone else who may have asked these questions to them
directly. I don't presonally know if anyone else has rasied these questions
with UKU/GB, but I know quite a few are asking them, in particular the juniors
for whom it concerns (and many of them don't actually know the direct channels
of communication).

That's my two pence,
Afro Peat x

Maybe this email would be better addressed to the UKU, in paragraphs?

they choose. It is an amature approach and one which does nothing for the
reputation of the UKU as coaches are left wondering what else will be sprung
upon them. My players are now dissapointed at not having a crack at the
regionals and left wondering if they should play for GB or not. What kind of
message are we sending out here? You can play for GB but it means you cant
enter a National Indoor qualifier - very bizarre! This has not been a great
year for the apparent fractured and disjointed GB junior scene and I would call
upon the UKU to step in and try to sort this out. Communication between
coaches, players and the UKU needs to be improved.A central calender needs to
be produced to include ALL GB junior training dates well in advance so that
plans can be made and clashes avoided. No GB team, should have the right to
suddenly announce that there will be another training session on x date and
that if you don't attend then you can't play for GB. That
is just plain weird. As head of PE in my school, I deal with governing body's
of many different sports. In each sport the National team is coordinated at all
levels from head office and training and trials dates are set way in advance so
that teachers and parents are clear on what is happening. Get this - they even
talk to other sports to try to avoid clashes in their calenders. I would hope
that the Under 20's organisers would either consider moving the date or this
session or at least cut some players some slack if they want to spend the
weekend trying to qualify for the indoor Nationals. Paul
