There are many reasons for this. We've been implementing and developing infrastructure to do it properly. Much of our BREP/NURBS foundation is critical. We recently started working on annotations (slow progress) and constraint infrastructure (further along). > BRL-CAD has command 'rtedge' to draw outline of model. Need a lot more information than that to suggest whether it's a good idea or not. ;) You're certainly welcome and encouraged to propose something you think you could do to help in this area. Note that the Vector Drawings from NURBS is related: http://brlcad.org/wiki/Vector_Drawings_from_NURBS Note that you should include details on the approach you'll take, not just the end product. We all want engineering drawings. Getting there cleanly IS the problem. In addition to the approach described on the ideas page, a similar feature could be intersecting a plane surface with objects and either integrating it as a visualization aide in the GUI or storing that result as vector output to a file.
