The ps command only captures the wireframe, so it has very limited use. If we

There may be a difference in detail or resolution in play here, though I
welcome someone to prove me wrong. :) When I attempted a raster to vector
conversion, the result was absolutely hideous. It was unsuitable for pretty
much any engineering purpose (though just fine for pretty pictures). It was
also very finicky to different types of inputs (small models with lots of
detail, big models with little detail, and vice-versa).
