Hello Sean Morrison,
As you had encouraged me for geometry conversion, since yesterday, I read
the pdf containing tutorial IV on Converting Geometry. Through that, I have
got a very brief idea about wide range of convertors available for geometry
conversions between BRLCAD geometry file formats and other formats of
different CAD systems and standarized CAD formats like STEP and IGES to
forcefully convert incompatible formats. Still am trying to dig deeper and
deeper.
I went through the project ideas again, the three projects which I find
interesting and would like to work on are-
1. General Tree Walker - making a new common interface for different
functions currently used to recursively walk through CSG tree.
2. STEP Libraries- cleaning up and performance enhancement, improving
library performance and code maintainabilty and better documenting it.
3. Improving STEP Importer- extending the convertor to support non-solid
NURBS geometry, polygonal geometry, unorganized triangle mesh geometry and
implicit CSG geometry.
The third one, particularly is a new concept for me but I find it
interesting and am willing to learn new things through it. According to
you, in which direction should I go ahead?
