Rony G. Flatscher commented on BSF-13:
--------------------------------------

Everything +1.

Ad file extension lookup: this would be already present with the BSFManager,
cf. the static method "getLangFromFilename()"
<http://wi.wu-wien.ac.at/rgf/rexx/bsf4rexx/current/docs/docs.apache.bsf/org/apache/bsf/BSFManager.html#getLangFromFilename(java.lang.String)>.

(The overview page for the BSF Javdocs would be
<http://wi.wu-wien.ac.at/rgf/rexx/bsf4rexx/current/docs/docs.apache.bsf/> in
the above URL. Always meant to add them to the Apache BSF homepage.)

> BSFManager could give access to the registered languages, perhaps via an
> unmodifiable List.
> It might also be useful to optionally check if the relevant classes are
> present (without loading them).
> This could be used for GUIs that want to display a list of available
> languages.
> It would probably also be useful to be able to look up the file extensions
> associated with a language; GUIs could make use of this.
> [I can probably provide a patch against 2.4 later this week]
