seq is an elf binary, not a function.
repeat doesn't exist as an executable or function.
In the bash source tree you find the file examples/startup-files/Bash_aliases
where you find both repeat and seq.
I think that Gioele is right that the parts he mentions are indeed broken.

OK, I accept that I was not aware of the function definitions in said
Bash_aliases file, and consequently confusion arose.
