sorry, you are correct ... the C locale gives proper output, but en_US does not and my glibc-2.5 systems just happen to be either en_US or en_US.utf8 in LANG so what part am i missing wrt to collation in the en_US locale ? i am an english speaking person in the US and i wouldnt say that sort order is correct, but my profession isnt exactly librarian ;) -mike
