Thanks Jim. BTW - Do you have these policy preferences collected somewhere? I don't remember seeing some of them in the general GNU standards document. If they are coreutils-specific would it make sense to have a section in HACKING (or maybe a dedicated standards.txt supplement) to explain them? I think that could be a useful educational tool for relatively inexperienced contributors (like me), and could help reduce the noise in patches that are submitted to the list.
