Well as discussed previously I'm not fond of this feature at all: http://lists.gnu.org/archive/html/bug-coreutils/2009-03/threads.html#00287 TBH, the number of hardlinks has it's own column that one can quickly scan. The only argument I've seen for changing the color is "it would help".
