Let's get back to earth. It is easy to complete automakization of CVS
without getting in all those troubles. I really don't understand your
resistance. Having all Makefiles produced by Automake is a good thing,
regardless of what you are going to do in the next year.
When zlib releases a new stable version we'll see what to do with it.
The viral behaviour of Libtool has nothing to do with single simple
libraries such as zlib.
