I had never installed 1_08_dev-20240103. I tried it and it
does the same thing. Interesting that nobody else noticed
or complained about this. I went back to 1_08_dev-20230709
and all is fine. I guess I'll just have to do without the
latest and greatest improvements... ;)

The file should be saved in %HOMEPATH%\.gnubg\gnubgautorc, not .gnubgautorc.
The two build dates mentionned by Murat strongly suggest a regression :-(.

Some more info for you, in case it may help you fixing it.

I restored the gnubgautorc file from backups several times
and GnuBG replaced it every time I started it.

I also restored the file while GnuBG was open, hoping that
it would leave the file alone but the next time I started
GnuBG, it replaced the file again anyway.

I didn't test if it would do the same in CLI.
