Follow-up Comment #5, bug #34783 (project gnustep):
IIRC the current behavior is a deliberate decision to implement the documented
OSX behavior, and is purely due to the run loop mode that the window runs in
... if we run the window in the default run loop mode then the timers will
work as normal.
