Hold that thought!  I'm still getting my ducks lined up (meaning: checking
portability of my working copy changes on GNU/Linux, macOS, and Solaris 10 &
11).

There is an evil portability problem, and it lies where we would not have
expected it.  More to follow in #64061.

But to not keep you in _too_ much suspense: "\n" in the sed s command's
replacement text is (1) non-standard, (2) supported by macOS sed anyway, and
(3) necessary for pdfpic.tmac to work.
