Yeah, I don't know how else to explain why this output makes sense. You're
setting a flag on Fred, then querying the parameters of Barney, and are
surprised when your query doesn't show a property of Fred.

Nothing about either the way it works, or the results of your .pchar
experiment, supports this premise. I still agree the documentation could be
clearer about this.
