Thanks for the report. Can confirm. I have a reproducer that is simpler by
one byte. (Leading space is unnecessary on the text line after the
footnote.)

She said "Here is some quoted\c
.FOOTNOTE
Example "text"
.FOOTNOTE X
text" and everyone liked it.
