I ask you to believe that if I'm going to support backwards
compatibility, I need to keep using rp= for a root path.  My
environment is an ever-changing pool of PCs that come into a private
LAN and then leave again.  The MACs are unknown.  Now I _could_ simply
upgrade everything at once, but given my choice, I'd rather not.

Yes, I gathered that.  I just didn't want anyone to think that it
would be a good choice for all purposes.
