I think to remember he did already. Your point was that Debian stable didn't
have am >> 1.5 right?

Well, in unstable (which is the relevant for development issues) 1.5 has been
deprecated to the point the automake maintainer decided to get rid of it.

That's fine. We can patch it in Debian w/out problem. The question is that
I don't want to maintain patches if they're not going to merge.

So if you agree to update automake, tell me which version (preferably 1.7.7)
and I'll update it in Debian inmediately.
