Follow-up Comment #13, bug #44448 (project grub):
OK, this time things are "better": I can copy the files linux.ko,
opensolaris.ko, zfs.ko (along with the corresponsing *.symbols files) over to
a small custom directory, THEN grub2 can see and load these modules.
At the time of the original bug report even this couldn't do the trick.
