I compile GSL on a number of distribution/compiler versions (debian
10,11,12,13, fedora 41,42, RH/Alma 8,9,10, varius Ubuntu) and always perform a
straight ./configure. RH10 & Alma 10 are the only setups where I see the
failure.
> add -j6 to both make steps to expedite the build.
On the AMD EPYC box I also parallelized the build; the failures are occur
regardless of the number of jobs.
