I find little value in responding to this message, not only do you insult me, but you also insult the rest of the inetutils team. Maybe if you can base further arguments on a technical basis, instead of emotional ones then we can work together better, and more pleasantly.
It is not important what other projects do. It simply does not matter, rishi. That not all code can be shared is obvious, but some can. One does not need to use nested ifdefs if one is clever either. Also, having one file per operating system is not the correct way to write portable code. This requires ifdefs, sometimes nested.
