Well, the root of the problem is the fact that you have to specify the voice
change one note ahead, which is inconvenient in itself. The problem shown here is a non-obvious consequence of this basic problem. In my opinion, this makes it
qualify as a bug and not only as an inconvenience (even though you can work
around it by adding empty syllables).

Since a bug fix isn't likely to happen very soon, a first step would be to add a
note in the documentation. I offer to do that if you wish.
