That's a fairly simple definition of "non-functioning". i.e. nothing
happens of any use.
As I see it, the purpose of embedded links is to move the editor
cursor to the source, thus helping you (the person who is currently
editing) to edit you source.
As I say - currently, on Windows, with a standard lilypond install, this
does not happen.
