I find your focus on the operating system fascinating. Frescobaldi contains _both_ editor and viewer, and it does not even consult Windows about the textedit:// links. With regard to Windows' treatment of textedit://, it does not likely make a difference whether or not you have Frescobaldi installed (unless Frescobaldi tries supporting the links on some external viewers as well, but even then it is unlikely to use Windows-specific mechanisms). Trying to pick the wheat from the chaff, it would seem that your complaint is actually with the LilyPond environment provided by the GUB Windows installer.
