Well, "several years" is a bit of an overstatement. It was accepted in 2002. It is still not on my host (I'm running Debian stable). Initially there were some performance and correctness problems so I wanted to hold off on it. My understanding is that some performance problems remain. Anyway, Paolo Bonzini has made a similar suggestion and I've been meaning to look into it in my spare time. He's been making a reasonable number of changes to the glibc regex code to get its performance up to an acceptable level. The most recent patch was Nov. 23. I was hoping for the dust to settle a bit before incorporating the regex code into gnulib. _______________________________________________ Bug-m4 mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.gnu.org/mailman/listinfo/bug-m4
