To my mind the most pressing issue is to modify regex.m4 to also
detect the problems in early editions of the glibc-2002 regex, and to
substitute the new gnulib regex (i.e., the latest glibc regex) when
these problems are present.  Perhaps the easiest way to do this would
be to test for the latest problem or two that Paolo Bonzini has fixed.
(Since he keeps installing fixes, this is a moving target, but I guess
you have to start somewhere.  :-)
