Hi Stefano, Thien-Thi, I'm sorry, but I can't follow a thread of a bunch of messages or more started on another list (of a thread of hundreds of unrelated messages :), where each message has tons of quoted material followed by brief commentary and small changes. Even if I tried to work my way through all the discussion, I would surely make a mistake.
If the idea is still in "discussion mode" between you two, that's fine, feel free to keep cc-ing the list :). But if you want me to actually understand, please send a proposed diff to standards.texi with the new words. Or, if you don't have the new words yet, and just want a reaction to the ideas, please send a summary of what you want to change, without any quoting :), and maybe I can suggest something.
