I tried in the xboard I just compiled your 'fairymax'
http://home.hccnet.nl/h.g.muller/fmax4_8w.c
http://home.hccnet.nl/h.g.muller/fmax.ini
which also compiled on Mac OS X 10.5.8.
But then the 'xboard -variant capablanca', machines playing against
each other, gives an error:
{False draw claim: 'Stalemate'} 0-1 [1]W+0.00 a8a8
Error happens also when playing white against machine, for example:
Illegal move "f4" (rejected by first chess program)
This happens also in "Edit Game" mode.
