Follow-up Comment #1:
Stockfish is a UCI engine, not xboard protocol, so you can't run it with the
command "xboard -fcp stockfish".
As "man stockfish" says, Stockfish should work with xboard together with
PolyGlot. I suggest installing PolyGlot and reading its man page to
understand how to use it.
